Paris: Cooling off, Colonial Style

with one comment

WELCOME to one of my favourite shady haunts: the Jardin d’Agronomie Tropicale.

It was built for the Colonial Exhibition of 1907, a splashy, exotic pastiche that attracted 2 million visitors during its 6 month run. In recent years, there’s been talk of tarting the garden up, but so far operations have been confined to essential maintenance.  That’s all to the good.  Lush, mossy and tangled, the garden is an excellent spot for Paris nature-watching – though right now, the wildlife is mainly limited to canoodling students.

  1. It’s a good idea to visit this garden for people looking to see something original in Paris.
Thank you Amanda for this good idea.
